The Company
Starpharma is an ASX listed biotechnology company researching and developing
dendrimer-based pharmaceuticals. With our lead product VivaGel at an exciting stage
of its development as a vaginal microbicide against sexually transmitted infections,
the research team is capitalizing on new opportunities in dendrimer-based drug discovery.

The Roles
Contributing primarily to projects in the area of drug delivery, you will:
* Synthesize, purify and characterize new chemical compounds; and
* Work collaboratively to evaluate scientific data and define pathways for project development
One of these roles will involve predominantly synthetic chemistry and scale-up,
whilst the other will have more emphasis on preparative scale purification using HPLC
and other techniques. But there will be overlap so most importantly we require a flexible,
team-oriented approach that will see you work in and across project teams, developing
expertise across a range of technical areas.
Our ideal candidates will have a BSc, preferably with Honours, and 2-3 years practical laboratory
experience. A good knowledge of organic synthesis techniques or experience using preparative
HPLC would be desirable. You will be highly motivated, enjoy “hands on” experimental work, have
an eye for detail, and strong communication skills.
Initially, these positions are offered for a term of two years, with potential for permanent
appointment for suitable candidates.
